  1. Hey Rae, I saw your link to this site and have been reading it for a couple weeks. I appreciate what you are doing. With my girls starting to eat solid foods I have been striving to give them the best, including organic where I can, but unfortunately small town life isn’t that conducive to affordable options. I don’t know if you are a big Costco fan but they are getting more and more organic products in every month. I made baby food out of the green beans, and I know they have all sorts of other things – carrots, salad mix, apple slices, milk, soymilk, peanut butter (obviously not for you household). I know it is not the same as shopping Trader Joes which is all local, but Costco may be a useful compromise for people like me that can’t afford TJ and need to stock up when they do go into town.

Also, I was thinking about getting about 10 reusable grocery bags to use. Have you seen any cheap ones around, maybe ones where the money goes to a good cause? Or maybe this could be another sewing adventure for you? Any thoughts?

  2. I was wondering about that $0.29/each price for OG bananas at Trader Joe’s — was it really better than the $0.99/lb price I usually pay? So, I weighed a pretty average looking banana. It was about 4 ozs., which makes Trader Joe’s bananas about $1.16/lb.

  3. Thanks, Shanamadele! I was wondering about that!
